About Me

Who is Just.ns_arts ?

At the age of one, I came to live in Berchem. I am now the mother of two young girls, both of whom also enjoy being creative.

My studies as a clothing designer and maker are probably the basis of my desire to create. However, it wasn’t until 2005 that I truly discovered painting.

At first, my works were very symmetrical and I found it difficult to let go and embrace my spontaneity. Learning to let go has been a long and difficult process.

I initially worked only with acrylic paint, then with watercolour and soft pastel, and more recently with oil paint. It’s with acrylic or oil-acrylic that I can best express my imagination on a canvas. The larger the canvas, the better.

Thanks to experimenting with these techniques, but also thanks to internships with José Schuurmans (introduction to intuitive painting) and recently with Bob Tomanovic (oil painting techniques), you can see a clear evolution in my works over the years.

Colors have always played an important role in my life. It’s the energy and joy they radiate that fill my heart, and hopefully that of the people who view my works.

When I pick up my brushes, I completely immerse myself in the freedom of expressing my feelings, what’s going on inside me. I forget the world, the time. Some of my works are the result of what I already had in mind, others completely intuitive, some even where I took the colors completely blindly.

In my free time, it’s not just painting, but also working with wood that brings me peace.

In 2001, Emmanuel Biront taught me how to transform wood into something beautiful. During his many visits to me in the Jura, he brought back beautiful pieces of wood sculpted by nature from the forests. He always made beautiful works out of them. Since then, I see branches or pieces of tree in a whole different way. Under every piece of bark or moss is often hidden beauty. Unfortunately, Emmanuel is no longer with us. To honor the knowledge he gave me, I have decided to focus again on wood, to let you discover the magic of nature.

And then, yes, that beautiful, magnificent nature. A place where I like to spend time. Just listening to the birds, the rippling water. The place to lose yourself, to find yourself.
